Dream Proposals
I have always been partial to pretty seashells. There's this one kind of seashell that I truly adore that with two of them and some glue, can be easily manipulated into the shape of a heart shaped locket, just large enough to place a ring inside. :)

It's gotta be a bright starry night, and he's gotta know enough sleight of hand to wow me with this. Show me the three shells, all looking exactly the same, preferably while on board a fabulous cruise to some island "cough'Disney'cough", have me pick one of them, then he's got to fearlessly throw the other two overboard. The one I pick would have the ring in it. He would just ask me to open the shell, he wouldn't have to say a word...

Anything else would have to be equally creative, I'm a girl who likes to be wowed.

I've never dreamt of one before so let's see... in a perfect world I would want my future husband to come and pick me up from work. Take me directly to the airport w/o telling me what we were doing or where we were going. On our private plane he would then tell me that we were heading over to Europe somewhere and to just wait and see where we were going. Surprise! Surprise! We were headed for France.

We would land in Paris and play all night long there. The next day we would sightsee around town and then hop on a train to the south of France. We would stay in a small bed and breakfast on the Mediterranean where that night he would propose to me at dinner.

Then he would tell me that we weren't going back to America but spending the next 2 yrs in France where he would work and I would learn to speak French and learn to paint. We would buy a chateau outside of Paris and have an apartment near the Louvre or up by

Montmartre...or maybe we'd have both. I'd quit my job by calling in to work from France and then have my family fly immediately over to France where we'd get married at a small ceremony w/just family and closest of close friends and then we'd start our lives together there.

My husband and I have a passion for downhill skiing - that's even how we met! Standing in line and being "singles" out of our groups of friends.

Anyway, we went away two years ago for President's Day weekend to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to go skiing. Instead of his usual downhill skiing - Troy, kept insisting that we try cross-country skiing while we were there. I agreed to try something new and we set off the next day to try out our new adventure in skiing. Now, little did I know that Troy had set things up beforehand w/a friend of his who works for one of the resorts. After circling the easy trail for the first hour or so, Troy kept insisting that we hike/ski up this hill that had been marked off as closed. I was hesitant -since I kept having problems w/not having an edge on my ski - and I also didn't want to go anywhere I thought there'd be an avalanche. However, after much begging and pleading to just go and check it out with him - I followed him.

You can imagine how surprised I was when reaching a landing that overlooked part of the mountain - there was a huge blanket spread out on the ground with a bottle of champagne chilling next to it in the snow covered ground. I started laughing and Troy did too and then he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course I couldn't help but say no.

Being with someone you love with all of your heart and souls is already a dream come true in my opinion. But if I had to pick a dream proposal it would be in Venice, Italy as we are enjoying a gondola ride under the stars. We would pass St. Marks square as the gondolier sings his romantic song, and as we were passing under the famous Bridge of Sighs, he would ask me to be with him always. I would kiss him 'yes' in response and we would visit that spot for our honeymoon and important anniversaries to renew our vows of love to each other.

I love the unexpected, so putting down a staged proposal doesn't quite sit right with me. It's all about timing, the right person, the right place and time - like with anything you have to go with your gut feeling. So I would like it to be a surprise, something I am totally not expecting- whether it's on the scoreboard at my favorite basketball team's game or in the woods on a camping trip- I want the spontaneity of the moment to be a rush. Oh- but he has to get on one knee though- that's a must!
